Most people want to build a website but they don't know where to start. I am going to tell you where to go to start and what to do after your site is set up. Step by step in laman's terms. I'm not selling anything, I just want to help. All places I am referring I use and were the easiest for me when I built my first website. There are a lot of others out there. These were the most helpful to me and I have been with them since. Save this page to refer back to. I have added banner/links for easy access.
Step 1.
Think of a name of the website you would like to start. Make it unique and have at least 5 alternates due to a lot of names are already taken. Decide what kind of product you are going to have on your site. Make the name and the product match.
Step 2.
Go to namecheap
you can register your site name for a year for $9.69 + they offer a lot specials.
Enter in the top left of the home page the name you would like to use and click search. You will then be taken to the page that will let you know if the name is available. Repeat until you fine one available. Then purchase it. Done! You own it!

The best thing to do is start off with at least the one of the paid options you can get one for as low as $4.99 a month. I started with the free and just ended up upgrading. But the great thing is you have the options.
On the right top of the page in green click get hosting. On the bottom left click on the free sign up now. Join, it's free! You will have to confirm. They will tell you how. It's usually an email. Then click on build a new website. Then click on use a domain registered elsewhere. Don't panic! choose option 1. It is going to ask you to The first option to get your external domain working with Bravehost is to point your domain name to our nameservers. You'll need to ask your registrar to set the nameservers of your domain to the following:
* ns11.bravehost.com
* ns12.bravehost.com.
Step 4. Go back to namecheap and log in (open in new tab or window). Go to namecheap
Click on manage domains at the top (if it does not take you directly to your domain list). Then click on your domain name. On the next page it will have your contact information. Just leave that the same. Look at the left column and click on transfer DNS server to webhost. enter the two into separate boxes. Then save changes. That's it!

Click Here click on the bottom link to go to next page to finalize. Click again on build a new website. Click on the tab DOMAINS at the top. Click on add an external domain. Now enter your website name click add domain. Now your website should be showing at the bottom of the domain manager page under manage domains. To the right of the name it will say: Build a website.
Step 6. Click on build a website then click on website wizard. Click on start building your website. To start off I would use the build from a theme. This is the easiest and quickest. Click on it. Now you will select a theme. Click on the one that will work for you. Now, choose the layout and the color. Click on them and you will get a preview. How easy is that!
now click use this theme. Next you will confirm your theme, they will show you a preview of all in case you change your mind. Then save and continue.
Now change your site title, your subtitle and your footer text to what you want.
Now put in your information and preview as often as you like. Each highlighted box is the section you will be working on. Click done editing when your finished.
Now you can change or add services. They offer a lot. Just browse and see if you want to add a blog, classifieds or whatever you like.
When you are finished, click publish website. You are now online. Remember you can update and change it anytime you like.
